From the Chair of Governors

'Woolpit Primary Academy is at an exciting point in its development. Over the past 18 months the school has undergone rapid improvement. We have a dynamic headteacher who is leading the school on its improvement journey. The schools new visions and aims are embedded through all aspects of the school.

The school is part of the Thedwastre Education Trust, a multi academy trust with three local primaries; Great Barton, Rattlesden and Thurston – together we have a collective ambition to ensure teaching and learning are at the forefront of all we do and that our schools develop into outstanding centres of learning.'

Gary Macdonald

The governing body has three key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction

  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff

  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
